The University at Buffalo Law School is looking for two excellent upper-division law students for the Dean’s Faculty Research Fellows program. The students selected for this program will gain a wide range of experience through working with law faculty conducting cutting-edge scholarship.
The Dean’s Faculty Research Fellows Program is a new initiative funded by the Law School and administered with the assistance of the Law Library. Students selected to participate in this program will consult with both law faculty and law library reference staff to define research tasks, taking advantage of the full range of resources available through the University Libraries, both print and online as well as legal and non-legal. Students will report research results and detailed information on their research trail and methodologies to law faculty; excellent writing and oral communication skills are required, as is interest in expanding the scope of one’s research talents and expertise, and in intellectual engagement with faculty scholarship. Due to the cyclical nature of faculty assignments, students may occasionally provide research support to the Law Library Reference Department as required.
Qualifications
- Applicant must have completed first year law school courses, including Research and Writing.
- Preference will be given to students with high academic achievement, prior research experience, advanced legal research course-work, and/or demonstrated superior writing skills.
- Interpersonal and communications skills are critical to student’s ability to work with law faculty and Reference Staff.
